Material & Techniques of Painting (online class) Introduction
Materials

By each Monday (beginning 10/16/2006), you will receive my class notes link (except for Christmas) Homework will be due by Friday.
The notes will include a lecture and discourse on materials, a discussion of techniques and a short paragraph on art conservation.
I will include my painting process and demonstration samples.
There will be a link to Question and answer pages and a link to a page showing student samples and homework.
If you wish, I will include links to your web sites or sites of interest.
In the class notes, I will include links and bibliography to lecture contents.
All small sample images will include larger versions at mouse-over.
I will include process and procedure comments for each of my samples.
Please sign comments and questions with the screen name of your choice actual or pseudonym.
Please submit images as gif or jpg images at 500 kb or less.

You might consider getting a watercolor block that is 8" x 10" or using a good sketchbook about the same size.

With a scanner or digital camera we can produce images suitable for online presentation for homework or critical comments. A good working standard for manipulation by a paint program is 8" x 10" at 100dpi. I plan to present images as jpg images with a maximum 5" width or height in 100 dpi. Ask me if you need recommendations for getting a paint program.
